There are only a few days left to visit the Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. I’ve gone a few times, enjoying new corners of the exhibit each time. The sheer size of the exhibit is awe inspiring, highlighting her wardrobe, her art and famous portraits of her. It gives you a true glimpse into how she lived throughout her life. I was delighted to hear that she made some of her own clothes (including the silk dresses pictured here). The tiny pintucks were made with such precision. There’s no doubt this exhibit will influence coming collections in the fashion industry. I overheard many women commenting on how they would wear many of the clothing featured in the exhibit. This just reinforces her timeless style.
In the winter we spend more time inside than usual, so it’s a great time to update our interiors. There are plenty of amazing homes to take inspiration from, but lately I’ve found inspiration from store interiors. My latest interior inspiration comes from the new 3.1 Phillip Lim store in NoLita. I love the juxtaposition of the luxe materials set on a backdrop of simple building materials. Mixing onyx, marble, ply wood and concrete create a downtown luxury retail space that can translate easily into your home.
Very excited for the official start to summer. I thought I would celebrate by sharing a brief roundup of Spring instagram images, if you don’t follow me already (but you can do so here, I have some new news about my instagram account, coming soon, stay tuned). Spring was all about dining out with friends, shopping for new wardrobe pieces and home goods. I’m looking forward to a relaxing summer with a few trips on the calendar and spending as much time in Prospect Park as possible. What are you looking forward to most this summer?
I hate to jinx it by putting the words in writing, but Spring is (almost) here! I think spending the weekend away at the beach made me super excited about Spring time in New York City. Wearing the perfect number of layers so you can go bare-legged, switching black wardrobe staples for lighter hued favorites, removing the down comforter from your bed and sleeping with the windows wide open. Other perks of Spring time in the city include perfect weather for perusing the flea markets unscathed by extreme temps, bike riding season, a better selection of veggies at the farmer’s market and so much more!
I always love to see my two favorite cities come together, Detroit and New York. 5boro and Carhartt WIP teamed up to create a capsule collection bringing these cities together. Skateboards, tees and wheels feature Pontus Alv’s artwork. Watch the video…
