Most of us are familiar with metals in their final state… after being buffed and polished, even after being slightly antiqued, but the real beauty is in the process of getting metals to that last point. In jewelry class this week we were working on our turtle pins (to perfect our hand sawing… yes hand sawing and soldering skills). Here is my pin before buffing and polishing. I love the different colors and patina! I also love the idea that this is impossible to duplicate. Too bad that next week he will be all polished up, with no patina left…
