Camel Suede Shoes for Summer

When your wardrobe consists of primarily black and white, introducing a rich neutral like camel is an easy way to mix things up a bit. This summer, camel suede shoes are the go-to hue. The richness of the camel color effortlessly punctuates any monochromatic look. Whether you go for a more seasonless style like the mule, or a summer sandal, camel suede is the perfect update to the nude shoe. Here are my top contenders (some of which are deeply discounted for the end of the season sales).

Lemaire Fall 2016

As Lemaire’s first collection for Uniqlo U hits stores, his namesake Fall collection trickles into one of my favorite New York shops, Marayam Nassir Zadeh. These images capture the essence of the Lemaire Fall 2016 collection, laid-back refinement at it’s best. From the simple circular handbag and contrast color trench coat to the reinvented cable-knit sweater, there are many things from the Lemaire Fall 2016 collection on my shopping list this season. mnz-lemaire-fall-2016-6-desmitten mnz-lemaire-fall-2016-desmitten mnz-lemaire-fall-2016-2desmitten

Pant Dreams

what-pant-dreams-are-made-of-Dusan-BOOT-CUT PANTS-NAVY-maryam-nassir-zadeh-desmitten

The things pant dreams are made of… an oh so 70’s vibe and a silhouette that instantly elongates anyone’s frame. I don’t know if it is the sizing of XS and 0 that continues to increase, but I can’t find a pair of proper trousers to save my life. Everything is too big! I haven’t tried these pants on from Dusan just yet, but I love the workwear navy color and the high-waisted flare silhouette. Fingers crossed they actually fit! Although, if they do, I will have to save up!

Available at Maryam Nassir Zadeh.

Must Have: Glove Shoe

rachel-comey-glove-shoe-calder-heeled-ballerina-desmittenRachel Comey // Calder heeled ballerina // $345 // 2″ heel

It’s not the first time I’ve talked about the glove shoe… I mean, who wouldn’t want a shoe that fits like a glove? Made in buttery leather that forms to your foot, the glove shoe is the Fall replacement of the summer slide. Take your pick,  Martiniano // Rachel Comey// Maryam Nassir Zadeh // Celine. And beyond which designer- do you go with a flat or low heel, suede or leather? And even still, which color? Stark white or one of the brassy, buttery, vegetable colors that would add a welcomed, unexpected element to any achromatic look? I am drawn to the glove shoe because it makes me nostalgic for the hours of dance classes I took growing up. I remember how comfortable my jazz shoes were, but they were never to be worn outside on concrete, almost as if they were sacred. What is your favorite version of the glove shoe? Here are some of the many to choose from…

Martiniano // glove shoe // $395 flats // $540 for 1 3/4″ heel

Maryam Nassir Zadeh // Roberta // $379 // 1 1/2″ heel

Celine // soft ballerinas // $590 flats // $770 for 2 1/2″ heel

Must Have: The Double Breasted Jacket

Despite the 80+ degree days here in New York, I’ve started to set my shopping sites on Fall/Winter pieces for the second season of my 5 Piece French Wardrobe. A front line contender is a double breasted jacket in some shade of sand, camel or other non-black neutral, to lighten things up a bit. Whether in knit, for a casual, yet polished look, like this style from Agnona, or in a more tailored silhouette made of a silk/cotton blend, from Golden Goose, the details are what make this style a must have. I won’t waver on the details: a notch collar, double-breasted closure, patch pockets (at least two, maybe three), abbreviated sleeves and the light, neutral color are paramount.  The Golden Goose jacket is on sale for half off, should this be the first piece to this season’s 5 Piece French Wardrobe?!
