As a designer who’s dating a graphic artist, I appreciate creative couples and their dynamic. I love learning about designers whose other halves are in a different but inspiring creative field. Maria Cornejo is one of my favorite designers because of her unconventional silhouettes that can hang in your closet for years and always look fresh. It’s clear she draws inspiration from her other half, Mark Borthwick’s photography. The way he captures light is enchanting. These are some of my favorite Mark Borthwick photographs…
(some more favorites are the rag & bone photos he took a few years ago)
The 1990’s don’t seem that far off, but believe it or not, the days of platform shoes, baggy pants and flannels was more than a decade ago. The nineties are back already and I want you to be more chicly prepared! I recently fell in love with and incidentally spent hours on the Editorial Archive blog. I continued to come across editorials from the 1990’s that could very well be in today’s Vogue, sporting the casual minimalism looks that nod to the nineties. Here are some oldies, but goodies in the terms of 90’s fashion. If you are going to go there, take note from these editorials and leave your baggy pants at home.
This is how I would do nineties now… all from La Garconne.

While doing some research yesterday, I stumbled upon a lovely collection of photographs taken by Mark Borthwick for Rag & Bone.
The photos exude a sense of living in the beautifully tailored Rag & Bone clothing. I love the sense of wonder and mystery in these photos.
I hope these inspire you to create something beautiful.
