I used to shy away from white leather due to my inability to keep things clean, but I’ve decided I’m going to have to learn because my obsession is taking over my fear. As I started thinking about all the ways to wear white leather jackets, I realized it is a classic, seasonless staple that every woman should have in her closet. Here are a three ways I would wear a white leather jacket right now…

1- Toughen up your favorite feminine slip dress by throwing on a sporty white leather jacket.

I live and die for my black handbag, I wear it with everything and carry it everywhere, short of a black tie event. Around this time of year, I am always anxious for a change in handbag scenery. This fleshy, peachy color that everyone deems natural, looks and feels fresh for summer, while the shapes are like small sculptures hanging from your shoulder.

In New York, we are having the first real Spring in years, and I can’t get enough of it. I truly believe that Fall and Spring are the seasons when you get the most out of your wardrobe. You can wear boots with dresses, sandals with jeans and your entire collection of lightweight jackets. The past few weeks were filled with tons of inspiration gathering for an upcoming punk inspired photo shoot, dining outside and picnics in the park.

April Design: Cocoon Dress

If you remember my March Design, then you are probably sensing a pattern. I’ve been experimenting with new shapes and a new approach to design. Usually, I sketch the style I want to make, then I choose the fabric and draft a pattern. My design process is more organic now, by choosing only my fabric, I sit with my dress form and drape, letting the fabric guide me. Some days are all about trial and error, but when making this dress, it took form right away.

A few weeks ago, I headed to a horse farm in upstate New York to style a Frida Kahlo inspired photo shoot. Here is a sneak peak with some of my favorite looks, for the full editorial, visit Spirit & Flesh Magazine.

Inspired by the Mexico City exhibit featuring clothes from Frida Kahlo’s recently opened closet, this editorial pairs new and vintage pieces in true Frida style. Set on a horse farm in upstate New York, photographer Metin Oner captures the stoic styling of blogger, Christina DeSmet. Braided hair styles by Laureen Krawse and bold beauty by Nicole Sievers help bring out Monica Granillo’s inner Frida.

Color Me Fine: Black + Tan

This classic color combo never goes out of style, or out of season. I am constantly inspired by this color couple, whether it’s found in nature, fashion or interiors.

While at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens last week, I saw a variety of tulips, but none as fantastic as this one.

I always love the little black lace bra as a layering piece. I tend to wear mine under a loose tank come summer time.

I love how this unstretched canvas hangs slightly off center above the dining table.

Straw hats for summer days spent on the beach are a must.

Rings on all fingers, don’t mind if I do!
