Best of Basics: Spring Slides

I can’t help but get excited about Spring, I mean, it’s 60 degrees in New York today. So bear with me as I discuss my go-to shoe of the season, Spring slides. I’ve been a huge fan of this shoe silhouette for years (evident herehere and here) and if you haven’t slid into these shoes, then you are truly missing out. It is one of the easiest shoes to wear, it’s in the title of the shoe itself, just slide it on and go. It also adds a laid back yet, sophisticated vibe to any look. Whether you pair it with a slim midi-skirt or cropped pant, you can’t go wrong. This season, my best friend gave me these Jon Josef slides as a birthday gift. The embossed snake-skin pattern adds a textural/print element to my otherwise solid wardrobe. Slide into Jon Josef’s at Capricious in Grosse Pointe, Michigan or visit the Jon Josef website. They are also available in black velvet and tan suede.

Best of Basics: Chunky Cropped Sweater

As the temperature drops, the layers of clothes we wear increases. At times, you may feel like an overstuffed sofa. Lately, my uniform has consisted of high-waisted jeans, the Tie Cuff Shirt from DE SMET and this chunky cropped sweater. The joy of the chunky cropped sweater is the warmth it provides without excess bulk. If you get too hot, simply take it off and drape it over your shoulders, granny style. Another favorite look of mine. Made of 100% wool, you won’t miss the length. The neckline of this style is slightly higher than a crew neck, which is ideal.

Best of Basics: Woven Wool Tee

This month, DE SMET launched the perfect Woven Wool Tee. It is slightly sheer, fitted at the shoulders and slightly oversized through the body. Made from soft woven wool this tee has hand finished detailing, including French seams and blind hems.
