Bibi Cornejo Borthwick for Joseph Fall 2017

During fashion month, the runway shows are aw-inspiring, but my favorite images come from behind the scenes and street style. For Fall 2017, Bibi Cornejo Borthwick (yes the daughter of one of my favorite New York designers, Maria Cornejo and famed photographer Mark Borthwick) captured the subtle nuances of the Joseph collection. A creative in her own right, her images are both simple but stunning. From extended plackets and spherical buttons to monochrome looks and barely-there beauty, here are some of my favorite images.

Interior Inspiration: Santa Clara 1728 Hotel

interior-inspiration-santa-clara-1728-lisbon-3-desmitten

Apologies for the temporary pause in posting. Today I am dreaming of a tranquil, relaxing getaway to Lisbon, Portugal. The Santa Clara 1728 hotel is located in the old cultural quarter of the city. The 18th century building offers an old world feeling while the interior’s modern amenities make guest feel right at home.

French Trench Style

The rain from Paris fashion week has shifted to New York, and we have plenty of French trench style to inspire us, thanks to Phil Oh. He captured the glitterati donning their best overcoats and stepping up the layering game. Coats over jackets over shirts over knits, anything goes. From avant-garde to menswear inspired, the outerwear staple of the season has never looked better.

Weekly Instagram Selects

With all of the sunny weather we’ve been having here in New York, I can’t help but dream of new sunnies. The styles from the Dries Van Noten x Linda Farrow collaboration are at the top of my list. @thedreslyn

Sometimes details are enough to set the tone for a collection. The Fall 2017 Beaufille collection is summed up nicely with this detailed image of the contrast stitched trench coat. @jessifrederick

Spring is on everyone’s mind, so when a white poplin dress exudes your exact mood, you take notice. @frankieandclo

Simplicity is best, both in fashion and at home and the master of such stylings is renting out her Brooklyn apartment for March and April. She took full advantage of instagram’s new swipe left feature, nicely done. @ashleyhelvey

This new Greenpoint, Brooklyn shop styled this table top still life fit for an 18th century painting. @thegreateros_

Best of Basics: Spring Slides

best-of-basics-spring-slides-gran-by-jon-josef-womens-fashion-desmitten

I can’t help but get excited about Spring, I mean, it’s 60 degrees in New York today. So bear with me as I discuss my go-to shoe of the season, Spring slides. I’ve been a huge fan of this shoe silhouette for years (evident herehere and here) and if you haven’t slid into these shoes, then you are truly missing out. It is one of the easiest shoes to wear, it’s in the title of the shoe itself, just slide it on and go. It also adds a laid back yet, sophisticated vibe to any look. Whether you pair it with a slim midi-skirt or cropped pant, you can’t go wrong. This season, my best friend gave me these Jon Josef slides as a birthday gift. The embossed snake-skin pattern adds a textural/print element to my otherwise solid wardrobe. Slide into Jon Josef’s at Capricious in Grosse Pointe, Michigan or visit the Jon Josef website. They are also available in black velvet and tan suede.
