14th-transformative-tie-dress-made-in-ny-DE-SMET-6

This month’s design was inspired by simple geometric shapes to create a versatile silhouette. Seamlessly uniting form with function, the DE SMET Transformative Tie Dress is a new take on the wrap dress. Made in soft tencel twill, detailed with overlapped side panels for easy wrapping at front or back. Reversible front to back styling for a high or low neckline. Available in both Poppyseed (pictured above) and Bosc (pictured below). Layer over jeans and a tee, or wear on its own as a dress, this is the ultimate layering piece to take you through the seasons.

Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern

Georgia-okeeffe-exhibit-brooklyn-museum-5-desmitten

There are only a few days left to visit the Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. I’ve gone a few times, enjoying new corners of the exhibit each time. The sheer size of the exhibit is awe inspiring, highlighting her wardrobe, her art and famous portraits of her. It gives you a true glimpse into how she lived throughout her life. I was delighted to hear that she made some of her own clothes (including the silk dresses pictured here). The tiny pintucks were made with such precision. There’s no doubt this exhibit will influence coming collections in the fashion industry. I overheard many women commenting on how they would wear many of the clothing featured in the exhibit. This just reinforces her timeless style.Georgia-okeeffe-exhibit-brooklyn-museum-2-desmitten

DIY: 3-Ingredient Hydrating Face Oil for Long Flights

Beauty-Supply-DIY-3-ingredient-hydrating-face-oil-for-long-flights-flying-beauty-travel-tip-clean-beauty-non-toxic-desmitten

As I prepare for my trip to Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai, keeping my skin hydrated on the long flight is at the forefront of my mind. This 3-ingredient hydrating face oil is perfect for long flights. Simply mix 1 ounce avocado oil with 10 drops of jasmine essential oil and 10 drops of lavender essential oil and store in an air tight jar. The beta carotene, protein, fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E found in avocado oil help moisturize and heal your skin. Jasmine helps protect from environmental stressors, improves sleep and helps treat dry skin and provides natural moisture that won’t clog pores.  Lavender reduces anxiety, restores skin complexion and alleviates headaches.

Simply apply face oil to a clean face before take-off and depending on the length of your flight, reapply as necessary.

Camel Suede Shoes for Summer

camel-suede-shoes-for-summer-2017-lou-earl-mnz-maryam-nassir-zadeh-paul-anderw-net-a-porter-sale-marais-usa-jenni-kayne-desmitten

When your wardrobe consists of primarily black and white, introducing a rich neutral like camel is an easy way to mix things up a bit. This summer, camel suede shoes are the go-to hue. The richness of the camel color effortlessly punctuates any monochromatic look. Whether you go for a more seasonless style like the mule, or a summer sandal, camel suede is the perfect update to the nude shoe. Here are my top contenders (some of which are deeply discounted for the end of the season sales).
