The best part of transitional shopping is choosing pieces that are versatile for more than one occasion and season. Opting for a white handbag instead of black for Fall feels refreshing, but it will carry you right through Spring without a second thought. Go for bold with a striped blazer and a black boot with a contrasting heel. I love how versatile this button front turtleneck is, the layering options are endless. A pair of clean, tailored cropped jeans are easily dressed up or down, no matter what the season. What is on your transitional shopping list?

I have successfully completed my 5 Piece French Wardrobe challenge for the first half of this year. From January until now (actually, until the end of June) I’ve only bought 5 new pieces for my wardrobe. A little refresher:

In my quest for the perfect 5 pieces for the season, I was originally overwhelmed, but now, four months into my first season (which ends June 30th), I have narrowed my scope and thought I’d share my progress. Here’s a little refresher of the 5 Piece French Wardrobe guidelines.

The hardest part of my 5 Piece French Wardrobe challenge is deciding on which 5 pieces to buy between now and the end of June (I made it through January without buying any new wardrobe items… crazy, I know). While I haven’t nailed down the exact style, this image from Net-a-Porter’s newest issue of The Edit cemented a place for The Perfect Shirt in my 5 Piece French Wardrobe this season. Now the hunt begins for a shirt that is equally as effortless as it is polished…

t’s no secret that I love Newbark slides. This summer, my fiancé gave me this double strap nude style that I’ve lived in. Newbark slides have a supported sole that makes it comfortable for walking around the city for hours. These particular slide sandals have a hidden bar that sits in between your toes to avoid sliding right out of them. If you don’t already own a pair of slide sandals, you’re missing out on the most effortlessly stylish shoe of the season. Shop my favorite Newbark slide sandals below.

In an effort to consume less, I was going to forgo the gift guide this year… but I couldn’t help but share some of my favorite sale items with you! As some of you may know, my boyfriend and I are getting married in Mexico next year (agh!) – and because we live on the East Coast, our beach days are few and far between. Which means, I really need to up my beach-ensemble game. Here are some beach ready pieces I would love to have for our wedding week in Sayulita, Mexico! Some of them are just a far off dream (The Row market tote for instance, sigh) but others are totally reasonable. Here is my beach getaway gift guide for those of you who are lucky enough to travel during the cold winter months!

It’s not the first time I’ve talked about the glove shoe… I mean, who wouldn’t want a shoe that fits like a glove? Made in buttery leather that forms to your foot, the glove shoe is the Fall replacement of the summer slide. Take your pick, Martiniano // Rachel Comey// Maryam Nassir Zadeh // Celine. And beyond which designer- do you go with a flat or low heel, suede or leather? And even still, which color? Stark white or one of the brassy, buttery, vegetable colors that would add a welcomed, unexpected element to any achromatic look? I am drawn to the glove shoe because it makes me nostalgic for the hours of dance classes I took growing up. I remember how comfortable my jazz shoes were, but they were never to be worn outside on concrete, almost as if they were sacred. What is your favorite version of the glove shoe? Here are some of the many to choose from…

I know I’ve gone on and on about the summer sales, but I feel like I showed great restraint! Even though my 5 Piece Wardrobe didn’t work out this season, I only bought a few must have pieces during this major sale moment. One of them being these amazing Dries Van Noten boots. While they are clearly out of season, they are a work of art. Justifying such an off-season purchase is easy…

Since my 5 Piece Wardrobe went out the window a few months ago, I thought I would take advantage of the summer sales. They are oh so good this season. Here are my top picks from Farfetch and Net-a-Porter, where discounts are up to 70% off. For summer, I am all about a soft palette of khaki, white and ivory enriched with brown leather accessories. These lighter neutrals will also lighten up my primarily black wardrobe.

August always seems to be the busiest month of summer. We try to pack as much sun-time fun into these last few weeks, and this year is no different. So many things on my mind this month, I didn’t know where to start! My August list…
