It’s that time of year when we fall back into our “back to school shopping” mode, dreaming of wearing the Fall collections we fell for back in February. Unfortunately, most of those must-have pieces are for colder weather (not ready for that yet)! These pieces are perfect for transitioning from Summer to Fall without committing to either season entirely. As you know, most of my wardrobe is black, but this year I am consciously adding more neutral tones – dare I say color? – to my wardrobe (evidence here, here and here). Black is classic, but I may have maxed out the number of black items one can own in a single wardrobe. Peppering in some lighter hued pieces, in classic shapes, only strengthens a timeless wardrobe. I focused on shapes that work for my work-from-home lifestyle; easy, everyday, versatile pieces… some of which have been on my wish-list for over a year.
Loquet delicate chain necklace // Still dreaming of the perfect delicate gold (or silver) chain to wear with basic tees. This one from Loquet is the perfect length with the best chain-link shape.
Lemaire trench coat // I’ve been looking for a trench coat for how many years? Let me count them… one… two… you get it! Even last month, at the La Garconne sample sale, I tried on this trench from The Row and fell in love all over again… but it was still over $1000, so I had to walk away. I’m hoping this off-white trench coat from the Lemaire + Uniqlo collection fits. It is only $150 with removable hood and water-resistant cotton fabric. Only time will tell, the collection launches on October 2nd!
Mykita sunglasses // A classic frame to dress up the simplest of outfits for now and for years to come.
Totême scarf // A bit of color and print goes a long way in my wardrobe. This giant silk scarf adds a graphic touch to every look, and it’s currently half price!
Trademark slides // I love the cognac color of these Trademark slides (remember the wool ones from last year, which are still available by the way). There is nothing better than an all black outfit with a few rich, cognac leather pieces to brighten it up.
Maison Margiela cardigan // This style does double duty, wear it as a layering piece or forgo the undershirt altogether and rock it as a low-v top. There’s nothing better than a color that loiters between heather grey and brown.
Il Bussetto leather card holder // The best looking business card holder around; with a structured leather shell and clean finished magnet closure, it can double as a mini-clutch in a pinch. Or at the very least it will keep me from putting my debit card in the back pocket of my jeans to run to the corner store.
