It’s been said that everyone’s wardrobe should be built on a strong foundation of basics. Some of us (myself included) have taken it beyond that and ended up with a closet made up primarily of basics. In an effort to guide you through the millions of basics that are out there, I’ve started a new series entitled Best of Basics. In this series I will highlight the best basics I have in my wardrobe, items that I spent months searching for, trying on, ordering and returning, so you don’t have to.

Today I wanted to share the most recent addition to my basics collection, a fine knit cashmere tee from New York brand, Cardigan. Cashmere for summer sounds a little crazy, but it is actually quite luxurious, even more so than wearing cashmere in winter. This tee is the perfect length, sitting at my hips, offering the option to tuck it in or leave it untucked without looking sloppy. Another plus is the slightly longer sleeve, a new favorite of mine when it comes to tees, cashmere or not. Made in a lightweight heather grey yarn, it is perfect to wear all summer long. Do you have a favorite cashmere tee?
