I have successfully completed my 5 Piece French Wardrobe challenge for the first half of this year. From January until now (actually, until the end of June) I’ve only bought 5 new pieces for my wardrobe. A little refresher:

1 // Allowed to buy 5 pieces each season (2 seasons per year)

2 // Basics don’t count towards the 5 pieces

3 // Accessories don’t count, unless they are designer pieces

So in a world where I wear mostly basics, it wasn’t hard for me to purchase only 5, non-basic items. The items include (in the order I bought them)…

1 // Apiece Apart white linen wrap pants (similar here). A relaxed summer pant in crisp white and comfortable linen. I didn’t have anything in my closet like this, so I thought it was a great addition. I found them at a sample sale for only $50, and the style never went into production so it made them that much better.

2 // Zara voluminous cropped poplin shirt. Another white piece for the wardrobe, I felt like this pieces was slightly trendy, and the fact that it was white (so hard to keep clean) made me feel ok about spending only $35 on it. I love how versatile this style is, I wear it so many different ways and I think it will even take me into fall layered over turtlenecks and under blazers.

3 // COS navy knit collared pullover. I picked this up in the men’s section of the COS pop-up at Opening Ceremony in March. I love the loose fit, the high neck and the light weight knit.

4 // 6397 grey chambray shirt dress. A longer length than I normally wear, I love how the volume of this style comes from the shoulders and the versatility of wearing it as a dress or a jacket makes this piece a staple in my wardrobe.

5 // Robert Clergerie black suede sandals. After months of searching for the perfect summer sandal, I landed on these. The unique heel, perfect height and classic cross at the toe were all selling points for me. I also love how it doesn’t go around my ankle, just a simple sling back, I can wear these for years to come.
