First off, I just want to say that I cannot believe it is the “holiday season” already! Secondly, I love putting together gift guides, so this year I decided to bring you one gift guide a week until Christmas! For some reason, this year the main things on my Christmas list are beauty supplies and books, so today I’ve pulled together the Best of Books to give (or receive) this year. Of course the books on my list are heavy on the inspiration side and light on the reading side. One thing that is ever evolving (like fashion itself) is my library of inspiration. You can never have too many beautiful books.
Chloé: Attitudes looks back at the sixty year history of the first fashion house to exclusively sell ready-to-wear. A must have book in any fashion library. A collection of 98 previously unpublished Polaroids from Guy Bourdin, a photographer famous for transforming the Polaroid from snapshot to editorial art. His surrealist narratives continue to influence fashion photography today.
The Body Beyond is a collaborative project between artist Matthew Stone, known for his nude photography and fashion designer Yuima Nakazato, who draws inspiration from nudist colonies.
In Pattern, 10 of the most influential writers, editors and curators chose the top 100 most influential designers from the past five years. The book is filled with sketches, editorial images and behind the scenes photos of the design process. Pretty Much Everything is just that, a look at pretty much everything photographers Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin have worked on over the past two decades. From ad campaigns and portraits to editorials fit to hang in art galleries, there are endless pages of inspiration in the pages of this book.
