Last month I shared some interior inspiration for making our apartment houseguest ready- i.e. hanging art on the walls, putting up curtains and finding additional lighting for the dining table. Fortunately for our guests, the curtains were hung before they arrived, but the rest of the room came together well after they had gone home.
I ended up making my curtains from raw linen that I bought at Gray Line Linens (only $8.00/yd!). I bought 6 yards so the curtains pool on the floor and I used jute rope to tie them back. As for art, I painted an abstract watercolor piece and hung it between the windows.
Our dining table functions not only as a place to eat, but a place where I sit to write blog posts and execute DIY projects, so it was very important to have adjustable lighting. Inspired by Domestic Candy we enlisted Dermot’s Dad (a skilled craftsman who also built our dining table, stools and bench) to build the tripod base for the extra desk lamp we had lying around. It turned out to be the perfect floor lamp for this corner.

this is such a reflection of your personal style. I can’t wait to come for a visit and see it in person!
