Dermot and I have lived in our apartment for a year now and have yet to hang anything on the walls in most of the rooms, we feel ok about not having curtains in the living room because our neighbors across the alley always have theirs closed and we never noticed how dark it was at our dining table until having our parents over for dinner asking what they were eating. Needless to say we have never had any overnight guests, until now that is. Both my best friend (1) and Dermot’s best friends (2) requested to stay at our apartment during fashion week, so we have to get busy! This gives us only a few short weeks to make our apartment ready for 3 house guests! Our list…
1. Create artwork for the walls (so I don’t have to try to hide the blank canvases behind the sofa). I am currently loving the artwork that looks handmade but has simple visual interest

2. Find lighting to help light up the dining table without interfering with the chandelier hanging in the middle of the room. Corner bulbs, floor lamps or side mounted lighting all seem like great options.

3. Hang living room curtains if for no other reason than to provide privacy for our guest staying in our 2nd guest bedroom (i.e. the sofa). We have great light in our living room so I want to stick to a sheer curtain.
I’ll let you know how it all turns out!

These are great ideas! The paper art is also amazingly affordable. Love!
